The Company was notified on 8 May 2012 of the following change in the interests 
in ordinary shares of British American Tobacco p.l.c. in respect of the         
undermentioned executive director and person discharging managerial             
responsibility ("PDMR") arising from the purchase of ordinary shares at a price 
of 3,232.6374 pence per ordinary share on 4 May 2012 through the Company's      
Dividend Reinvestment Plan (the "DRIP"):

Tobacco Employee Share Ownership Plan (the "UK Plan") that on 4 May 2012        
ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Shares")   
were purchased for the following executive directors and persons discharging    
managerial responsibilities (together the "Participants") at a price of         
3,232.6374 pence per Share as a result of the reinvestment of dividends by the  
trustee in accordance with the UK Plan.                                         
The number of Shares purchased by each Participant in the UK Plan was as

The Company was notified on 8 May 2012 that on 4 May 2012 the following persons 
discharging managerial responsibilities (together the "Participants") acquired  
ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Shares") at
a price of 3,232.6374 pence per Share as a result of the reinvestment of the    
cash equivalent of the Company's 2011 final dividend on shares held on their    
behalf by Computershare Company Nominees Limited as administrator of the        
Company's vested share account.
